The Producer for Performance Today takes a lead role in initiating ideas, creating features, recording sessions, production and distribution of the daily, national program. The Producer works as a flexible, creative member of an energetic production team that includes other staff, independent contributors and content partners. This position also provides writing and production support for the host.
The Producer works both independently and in close collaboration with PTs team to develop unique features that will be hallmarks of PTs signature sound, and provides writing and production support for the host and other team members.
This position includes domestic travel and assists in the production of other APM programs, as assigned.
Works in close collaboration with the producer, host and managing producer to develop signature, host-centered segments and episodes of PT
Identifies and researches story ideas and personalities, and develops innovative approaches to exploit content
Identifies and evaluates talent for consideration as regular guests on the program.
Helps inform program planning and scheduling for production on location
Travels with members of team for on-site production
Directs live events and remote productions when required
Schedules, produce and edit interviews independently
Helps write and produce segments, features for use in daily broadcast and online platforms
Writes scripts for broadcast
Consolidate content for daily web update
Produces fundraising materials as assigned
Cultivates relationships with external partners and maintains excellent working relationships
Maintains relationship with technical staff, audio engineers and is a liaison with other departments.
Participates in daily and weekly editorial meetings, and other scheduled departmental meetings
Participates in editor and producer training sessions
Creates daily rundowns and reports, answers audience email, and assists in record keeping
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
5 years of experience in production of classical music programming
Broad experience assembling network programming
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to work with producers and hosts to coordinate content and produce programs of national quality
Strong judgment skills and the ability to make decisions regarding value of material to the program
Ability to work effectively with moderate supervision independently and in a group
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities under deadline
Knowledge of ProTools audio production
Ability to edit audio and prepare all elements of a segment or program
Ability and willingness to travel as assigned
Strong writing and communication skills
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to maintain productive and positive communication with co-workers
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in multiple departments
Knowledge of common computer applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Digital editing skills strongly preferred (ProTools, Dalet)
Demonstrated experience in audio platforms and play to air systems.
Demonstrated experience with MusicMaster
