| Description: | Position Summary:
Oversee all aspects of planning and production for daily two-hour news magazine. Supervise producers, editor, producer/reporters, and interns and volunteers. Work closely with show hosts. Ensure program is compelling, engaging and consistently meets the highest journalistic standards.
Position Responsibility:
Ultimately responsible for the programs overall tone, appeal, content and general approach
Work closely with the show hosts and news managers making content and editorial decisions
Supervise editing and post production
Edit Producer/Reporters stories
Assess the programs content and priorities
Ensure each days broadcast is of the highest standards and quality
Manage program budget
Working with executive editor and managing producer, hire, supervise, train and manage program staff
Hire, supervise, train and manage direct staff through coaching, mentorship, performance meetings and on-going feedback. Involve HR on performance issues as needed.
Foster a creative and productive work environment. Create development opportunities and training to enhance skills and foster growth.
Make daily and long-term assignments
Originate story and segment ideas for the program and produce segments
Line produce live broadcast of the program when necessary
Work with digital media in production and presentation of programs online and social media content
Work closely with KPCC news department and other program staff
Supervise production of promos, archiving, logging, etc.
Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent professional experience
Established record of journalistic excellence and accomplishment
Five or more years of production experience in broadcast news or talk programming
Supervisory/management experience is required - must demonstrate an ability to foster high standards and an ability to coach, inspire and lead.

Additional language skill desired, such as Spanish, Mandarin or other
Experience in production, marketing and/or distribution of nationally syndicated radio programming
