| Description: | Position Summary:
Supports company operations by analyzing and resolving desktop hardware and software problems, providing direct support for employees of a growing media production and distribution company. This position provides help desk coverage for Minnesota Public Radio / American Public Media and is involved in purchasing, installing, and maintaining end-user hardware and software.
Position Responsibility:
• Responsible for responding in a timely and professional manner to internal customer requests for computer hardware and software
• Solid experience with Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 7, and Apple OSX
• Will work on a general technology help desk answering questions, solving problems remotely, and dispatching tickets to appropriate technology teams. MPR / APMG help desk staff are expected to be able to solve many problems on first contact
• Assist in the evaluation, purchase, repair, inventory, installation, and disposal of computing hardware and software
• Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
• Two year computer technical degree and/or relevant certifications
• Three to five years of experience installing and supporting Personal Computer hardware and software supporting both Microsoft and Apple platforms
• IT Help Desk coverage experience and expertise in Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, and 2010 applications is also required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Must understand and be able to support and troubleshoot modern personal computer hardware
• Demonstrated ability to research problems independently using multiple resources
• Thorough understanding of Windows XP, Windows 7, and Apple OSX in a business environment
• While this is not a network administration position as such, the ability to troubleshoot local and remote network and VPN connections from the network client side is required
• Must have at least a basic understanding of Microsoft Active Directory organization structure
• Must have a strong customer satisfaction / service focus
• Good analytical and business-oriented problem solving skills
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships in order to achieve common goals
• Able to perform work independently or in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally
• Excellent listening skills
• Good organizational skills
• Good documentation skills
• Knowledge and understanding of internal and external customer requirements as it relates to PC hardware / software support
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Microsoft certification (such as Microsoft Certified IT Professional relating to desktop)
• A+ or similar certification
• Experience using and supporting audio editing products such as Digidesign ProTools, Audacity, and Adobe Audition is useful
• Ability to use Windows scripting tools
• Experience in a broadcasting or media environment
