| Description: | Position Summary:
The producer of Marketplace Tech Report is a key part of Marketplaces technology team and its coverage of all aspects of technology from Silicon Valley to New York. S/he is responsible for overseeing and producing all aspects of the 4-minute Marketplace Tech Report module, a daily look at the way technology intersects with our lives. The MTR producer will play a significant role in creating the show and crafting its identity. S/he is responsible for everything from booking guest(s) for the program to producing any pre-recorded elements. S/he is also responsible for producing additional multimedia elements including blog posts, tweets and frequent podcasts. S/he is responsible for producing Tech Report to Marketplaces editorial standards and to MPs sound and style and, may be called upon to appear on air. The producer works closely with the host to ensure production of newsy and insightful technology stories, and two-ways, that appear across all the Marketplace programs and online.
Position Responsibility:
Direct and coordinate the production process for daily national program and podcast. Manage timely delivery for all elements of the program.
Collaborate with the Host on the creative process that generates themes and story ideas for each show, as well as the evolving vision for the overall program. Participate in all creative aspects of the program.
Collaborate with Host and other supervisors on positioning the program to best take advantage of the changing media landscape through editorial and technological innovation.
Provide content for podcasts, blog, social media feeds, website, and all online iterations of the program.
Initiate and produce stories; and create new program features.
Generate and organize guests and interviews for show; staying ahead of the news curve to develop leads for the show.
Manage relationships with outside content partners to ensure maximum efficiency in sharing stories and presenting them in a dynamic way.
Organize and produce guest interviewees.
Research and write programming for the show including tracking and organizing research materials.
Edit program content within required deadlines.
Maintain relationship with technical staff, audio engineers. Direct show-related work of technical staff who report outside of program.
Help host with decisions on editorial content; ensuring the content shelf stays timely and useful.
Foster a creative and productive work environment.
Identify, train and deploy back-up hosting team
Communicate shows vision to internal and external constituencies
Coordinate and collaborate with other Marketplace staff, especially Silicon Valley based Tech Reporter; integrate Marketplace Tech Report into greater Marketplace portfolio
Assist host in field production when needed and available; gather audio material and propose angles based on that material
Support other APM programs and special programming as needed.
Conduct ongoing, in-depth research into a wide variety of technology topics in order to become broadly conversant in a rapidly changing landscape.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
5+ years of journalism, radio and reporting experience.
Experience in radio news production.
Experience in news gathering and writing.
Experience in editing digital audio.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to conceive, plan and execute a radio program and associated non-broadcast projects.
Resourcefulness and ability to problem-solve.
Independence, initiative and good judgment: Work effectively with minimal supervision.
Solid story-telling credentials, and good news judgment, including a broad understanding of tech subjects and an awareness of general news.
Must have ability to write smart, compelling content for a variety of platforms quickly.
Ability to think big and create memorable radio, and able to manage the myriad daily details of production.
Ability to be flexible under daily deadline pressure, able to work effectively and collaboratively with hosts and other staff.
High journalistic standards and a vision for the program for each day, and over the long term.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
* Ability to ad lib cogently in an engaging manner in a live setting.
Knowledge of multi-track and broadcast consoles, audio storage media.
Familiarity with ISDN, telephone and Skype interfaces.
